Summary

“I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard as I did reading this book。 The humor was quick-witted and sharp… I didn’t want to put this book down。” -Reading Rebel

Gray “Quick Shot” Woodson is the fastest gun west of the Mississippi。 Unfortunately, he’s ready to hang up his hat。 Sure, being notorious has its perks。 But the nomadic lifestyle—and people always tryin’ to kill you—gets old real fast。

Now he just wants to find a place to retire so he can spend his days the way the good Lord intended。 Staring at the sunset。 And napping。

When his stubborn horse drags him into a hole-in-the-wall town called Desolation, something about the place calls to Gray, and he figures he might actually have a shot at a sleepy retirement。

His optimism lasts about a minute and a half。

Soon he finds himself embroiled in a town vendetta and married to a woman named Mercy。 Who, judging by her aggravating personality, doesn’t know the meaning of her own name。 In fact, she’s downright impossible。

But dang it if his wife isn’t irresistible。 If only she’d stop trying to steal his guns to go after the bad guys herself。

There goes his peace and quiet。。。

So much for peace and quiet!Gray’s new wife might just be the most infuriating woman he has ever come across! Far from a shrinking violet, Mercy is feisty, tough, courageous and absolutely impossible! Mercy is as far removed from being a biddable wife as it is possible to get。 Rather than scream for help if she sees the bad guys approaching, Mercy will grab one of her new husband’s guns and chase after them herself – and she won’t surrender until she has completed her mission。 Poor Gray doesn’t know whether to chastise his new bride – or kiss her senseless!Gray might need to forget about peace and quiet for a while, but with Mercy around his life is certainly going to be interesting!Michelle McLean’s Hitched to the Gunslinger is a terrific romantic comedy that had me screaming with laughter。 Hilarious, uproarious and so compelling I couldn’t resist devouring this book up in a couple of hours, Michelle McLean effortlessly blends delicious wit, sizzling repartee, red-hot chemistry and poignant romance in a first class tale readers will fall head over heels in love with。Gray and Mercy are two fantastic characters I absolutely adored。 Headstrong, determined, courageous and impossible not to like, readers will cheer them both on to get the happy ending they deserve。A fun read where the pages just turn themselves, Michelle McLean’s Hitched to the Gunslinger is an enjoyable historical romp that should not be missed 。。。more

What fun this book is。 It's funny, it's sweet, it's steamy。 Gray “Quick Shot” Woodson was incredibly sweet and endearing。 I loved his arc throughout the story; he started off as wanting no connections, no one to lose, and gained a family。 The found family themes in this book were exceptional。 Mercy was strong and while there were times I found her to be a *bit* much, I liked her overall。 The only reason this book got 3 stars instead of 4 was the pacing。 There was a bit too many of these bounty h What fun this book is。 It's funny, it's sweet, it's steamy。 Gray “Quick Shot” Woodson was incredibly sweet and endearing。 I loved his arc throughout the story; he started off as wanting no connections, no one to lose, and gained a family。 The found family themes in this book were exceptional。 Mercy was strong and while there were times I found her to be a *bit* much, I liked her overall。 The only reason this book got 3 stars instead of 4 was the pacing。 There was a bit too many of these bounty hunter attempts, I could have done with one or two less。 The cast of characters in Desolation were *chef's kiss* and I am very interested in reading more about them and hope this will turn into a series。 。。。more

Gray Woodson didn’t know much, but he knew one thing,…Life had been a lot easier when he was killin’ people。 This story was a thrilling adventure of a “retired” gunslinger who finds himself in a bit of a pickle - hitched to a western spitfire who owns an apple orchard that another townsman wanted。 I would have enjoyed this story so much more without all the language and open-door romance。 In my opinion, the language and explicitness was a detraction from the story; without that I would highly re Gray Woodson didn’t know much, but he knew one thing,…Life had been a lot easier when he was killin’ people。 This story was a thrilling adventure of a “retired” gunslinger who finds himself in a bit of a pickle - hitched to a western spitfire who owns an apple orchard that another townsman wanted。 I would have enjoyed this story so much more without all the language and open-door romance。 In my opinion, the language and explicitness was a detraction from the story; without that I would highly recommend this story。 。。。more

This is my first Michelle MacLean book and I’m sure I’ll read more。 This was a fun book with great secondary characters and good compatible hero/heroine。 Mercy is a strong independent woman who thinks she needs no one else until Gray walks into her life and changes everything。 Gray felt he belonged nowhere until Mercy and the town of Desolation。

Amazing read! I loved each characters in this story which made me think of them, even after I completed the reading。 The town ppl had each others back which made the story realistic and energetic too。 Not mention the Cherry pies, Grumpy Mcs and Our Susnshine Jo who made the story successful。 Quickshot and Apples forever!

Michelle McLean has written a humorous tale about a gunslinger who is trying to retire so that he could take it easy and nap。 Hitched to the Gunslinger mostly takes place in Desolation, a place that seemed to live up to its name。 Gray Woodson and his horse, Birdie, wondered into the cemetery where Mercy Douglas was visiting her father’s grave, all because Birdie was after the apple that was in her pocket。 It didn’t matter that Josiah Banff was there trying to ask Mercy to marry him, a task that Michelle McLean has written a humorous tale about a gunslinger who is trying to retire so that he could take it easy and nap。 Hitched to the Gunslinger mostly takes place in Desolation, a place that seemed to live up to its name。 Gray Woodson and his horse, Birdie, wondered into the cemetery where Mercy Douglas was visiting her father’s grave, all because Birdie was after the apple that was in her pocket。 It didn’t matter that Josiah Banff was there trying to ask Mercy to marry him, a task that she did not want to do。 Those other men with Banff got a little shy when they realized that Gray was Quick Shot Woodson, the fastest gunslinger west of the Mississippi。 Banff wasn’t put off either that Mercy told he and his cohorts that Gray was her fiancé。tGray could not believe the circumstances he found himself in and Mercy was hoping that it would stop Banff from pursuing her and her land。 Gray just wanted to find a place to nap and get a few good meals。 The town has a cast of supporting characters that are an odd bunch but a well likeable crew, as is Jason Sunshine who is following Woodson trying to get lessons on how to be a good gunslinger。 Trouble and the laughs do not stop even when Mercy and Gray get married。 tI was given a free copy of this book for review and the opinion is my own。 #HitchedToTheGunslinger #MichelleMcLean 。。。more

It has been a long while since I’ve read a western historical romance, and this one was great! We have a very reluctant grumpy hero, and a strong resilient heroine that agree to help each other out。 There’s a slight enemies to lovers vibe, but they are more annoyed with each other than actual hatful feelings。 This was a quick, fun read, with some laugh out loud moments that made it hard to put down!

Great western romance。 I normally read the Regency romances, but this one was intriguing。 I love the banter between the two antagonists and then the "kid" who follows Gray around everywhere。 The books description was a little misleading because Mercy never actually took off with his guns to go after the villains。 That would have been interesting if she had though。 I do hope to see more novels about the other residents of Desolation in the very near future! Everything about Mercy and Gray’s story is exactly what I love about reading romances。Let’s start with Mercy。 This woman is as stubborn as they come。 Having just lost her father, she’s looking at having to run the apple orchard on her own, which isn’t a hardship at all considering she’s been running it by herself for years。 But now, there’s a man who is dead set on claiming the property as his own, and with that comes claiming Mercy。 Mercy refuses this man’s advances until things get threatening and physical。 I loved the fact that Mercy feared very little。 When trouble came knocking on her door, she met it with her rifle in hand。 But even Mercy knows when trouble is too much for her to handle。 And it’s as if fate dropped a gunslinger with a stubborn horse on her front yard just when she needs a helping hand。Gray isn’t looking to settle down, but he is, however, looking to lay low somewhere he can relax, eat a good meal or two, and sleep until his heart's content。 When he stumbles upon Mercy, he views this as an opportunity for a free meal and maybe a nap。 Until she declares him her fiance… I have to say, I loved this man’s no shits to give attitude and I loved the way his attitude enraged Mercy。 The back and forth banter had me clutching my stomach and laughing so hard!! There were moments I couldn’t stop laughing。 Michelle McLean definitely knows how to put the comedy in a romcom。 I also loved the fact that Mercy roped Gray into doing so many things, like becoming the sheriff of their small town… so many hilarious moments!!The only reason why I dropped half a star on my rating is due to the ending。 I wanted to see Gray doting more on his daughter。 I wanted a few more moments of vulnerability from this tough as nails man。 But through it all, I loved this novel。 I loved the humor and I loved those bit sized vulnerable moments。 Michelle McLean is definitely on my *authors to watch out for* list!!________________Find me here:The Staircase ReaderInstagramFacebook 。。。more
